The overall research interest of this thesis was to explore the Aalborg PBL model in a company context as an approach for tailor‐made continuing education. Pursuing that, the concept of Facilitated Work Based learning (FWBL) was developed by the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) unit at Aalborg University. The thesis explores how the FWBL approach was received by actors involved in the process of setting‐up the courses, how the model performed in practice and how the actors organised and coordinated the activities – the interest was to conceptualise, i.e. provide understanding and meaning, to the practise that constitutes the FWBL. The scene set for investigating the FWBL approach, was the European Social Funded project, Via Nord, which was based upon a collaborative setup between three partner groups; the SME’s, the local Business Services and Aalborg University all with influence on the practice of the project.

The department will host a small reception at Vestre Havnepromenade 5 1. room 257, after the defence.
