Themes

Themes of PBL research symposium include but are not limited to:

• Organisational change and faculty development
• New skills and contextual knowledge in engineering and science
• Cultural aspects
• Curriculum development and assessment
• Creativity and innovation

Submission categories

Research based papers

Research based papers should be full papers based on completed or in-progression research that are related to the above mentioned themes. Both qualitative and quantitative methods based investigations are encouraged.
There will be oral presentations of research papers in parallel session.

Submission requirement

Abstract:
Abstracts should include research questions, methods, theories involved and preliminary findings or main results. Relevance to and benefit for PBL and engineering education should also be addressed. 2 pages with font of 12.

Full paper paper:
Full papers should include backgrounds, needs and aims of the teaching practice, success criteria, relevance to the symposium themes, detailed description of process, reflective judgement with arguments on pros and cons, and transferability of the practice to other pedagogical settings.

Practice based paper

Practice based papers should be full papers describing work on methods, tools or techniques for teaching and learning in PBL and engineering education.
Practice papers will be presented in a poster session.

Submission requirement

Abstract:
Abstracts should include pedagogical needs, design and experiment process, and the observed outcome of the teaching practice. Relevance to and benefit for PBL and engineering education should also be addressed. 2 pages with font of 12.

Full paper:
Full papers should include backgrounds, needs and aims of the teaching practice, success criteria, relevance to the symposium themes, detailed description of process, reflective judgement with arguments on pros and cons, and transferability of the practice to other pedagogical settings. Maximum 12 pages with font of 12.

Review process

There will be two step reviews: abstract review and full paper review. Both steps will be mainly evaluated by the relevance and quality by the program committee.
