Funding

UCPBL encourages staff members and students to seek external funds to support international exchange and research. Funding for international activities might come from: European Commission, especially the programme People: http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/people/home_en.html

Projects under Cultural agreements, UNESCO, the World Bank, and a variety of bi-national agreements for cultural and scientific exchanges.

Financing of a PhD study at Department of Development and Planning
In order to be enrolled as a PhD student at Department of Development and Planning you need to take financing into consideration. There are four main options for the PhD enrolment:
  1. Apply for and obtain an available position with wages You can apply for a vacant position. Please refer to http://stillinger.aau.dk/liste.php?fak=Teknat&lang=English

     
  2. 2/3 external financing including both wages and tuition fee – the faculty pays the rest

    If you can raise 2/3 external financing then the Faculty of Engineering and Science will finance 1/3.

    2/3 of the financing equals approximately 1.320.000 DKK (Danish kroner) distributed on the following items:
    • wages: 830.000 DKK (depending on seniority)
    • tuition fee: 270.000 DKK
    • overhead (20 %): 220.000 DKK
    • total: 1.320.000 DKK 


      During the 3 years of PhD studies you have to teach 244 hours per year.

       
  3. 100 % external financing of tuition fee, no wages included


    If you are planning to be enrolled as a PhD student without receiving wages from Aalborg University you can do so. In that case you only have to raise financing for the tuition fee and it is possible to exclude some of the items below.

    Department costs 62.0005.000Department costs depend on involvement in the department. If you do not have an office at the department, minimum costs should be calculated. If you do not pay normal department costs there must be an exact agreement with the department which mentions what the reduced amount covers.

  4. Apply for a tuition waiver PhD Scholarship

    There is a number of tuition Waiver PhD Scholarships which cover the fees for supervision and participation in courses, and allows free access to office, laboratory and computing facilities. The Scholarship runs for the entire period for the PhD study, which is normally three years. As a rule, the PhD students should live in Denmark during the entire period.
